Mike adheres to the Classical Dressage school of thought where good solid basics are critical. Laying the groundwork provides the best opportunity for success and longevity for both horse and rider. Without a solid foundation, a building will collapse, the same holds true for the horse. The horse needs a solid foundation to continue moving forward through the levels.
Good and correct basic dressage training is beneficial to most all equestrian disciplines. Horses and riders are generally not naturally straight and evenly balanced in their bodies. The development of straightness, even thoroughness in balanced forward movement provides efficient use of their body equally, causing a reduction in physical stresses. Endurance riders find this to be most beneficial during competition.
